The FIAC

The second edition of the International Performing Arts Festival of Bahia (FIAC-BA), to be held from Oct 23rd to Oct 31st, is committed to placing Bahia on the international theatre map, presenting an overview of the diversity in contemporary world theatre and dance.

After the successful first edition in 2008, the annual festival has been integrated into the cultural life of Bahia as a melting pot of innovative shows, aesthetical research and daring artistic initiatives, reflecting upon contemporary performing art practices and perspectives in Brazil and abroad.

More than twenty shows coming from five different countries will offer a wide array of genres in performances that will be held in local theatres, public and alternative venues. Originally from a diversity of cultural contexts, featuring varied artistic languages and techniques, together with local productions, the performances will promote an exchange of ideas and experiences enhanced through lectures, discussion sessions, workshops and meetings.

Such a wide range of activities that encompass touring performances, cultural exchange, professional and audience development, promotion of local productions, value addition to the cultural calendar of Bahia, celebration and reflection upon the performing arts have turned FIAC-Ba into a potent tool for transformation to bring about positive results in many fields.
